• Renault has registered over 2,000 trucks in the UK so for this year, breaking this mark for the first time in eight years. Most of the firm's growth has been due to the Premium tractive unit: now 62% of the firm's UK sales are of tractors, compared with only 12% of sales in 1990.
• Tata has increased the braked trailer weight ratings of its 4x2 and 4x4 Pickup and Gurkha ranges; the previous figure of 1,500kg has been increased to around three tonnes in most cases: for instance, the 2.0TDi Pickup can now tow a braked trailer of 3,065kg.
• Thermo King has introduced Iwo new semi-trailer fridge units. The 51.200, a no-frills single-temperature unit, and the 5L300, with more sophisticated electronics, replace the SMX-II and SB models. Both are powered by new, more fuelefficient engines.
