by Bryan Jarvis ▪ Coleshill-based heavy haulier Moveright International has developed a flexible low-loader with integral rail deck for the road movement of railway engines and carriages. The trailer base is a five-axle King low-loader with full in-cab or remote controlled steering.
Railway equipment transport specialist Moveright needed a low-loader capable of handling locomotives and coaches of up to 80ft (24.4m) long, and weighing up to 70 tonnes.
The answer was to combine a new King trailer Hydroneck front end and bridge with its existing modified main deck.
With full German Paragraph 70 approval on the full kingpin steer design, King was able to supply the necessary European documentation to enable Moveright to operate on the Continent.
Given that both neck and rear bridge are fully detachable, both components can be used with any of Moveright's stock of beds and attachments, enabling the company to handle excavators, generators and transformers.
