From the figures recently issued by the New Zealand Customs authorities it is dear that the bulk of the commercial vehicles imported into the Dominion are now being purchased in chassis form and that the bodies are being built in New Zealand to meet local requirements. The latest returns available
are those for the nine months ended September last, during which period 120 complete motor lorries, vase and buses, valued at £39,775, were imparted into the Dominion, whilst the arrivals of commercial chassis numbered no fewer than 1,845, representing a value of £398,851. Of complete vehicles imported into the country the United States headed the list with 50, Great Britain being second with SD, and Canada third with 30. Of chassis, no fewer than 1.116 are credited to Canada and 516 to America. The united Kingdom takes third place with 200.
