The three 6.25m (20 ft 6 in) long bodies have an internal height of 2.59m (8ft 6 in). Inside, half-way up each side, there is a full-length angle-section steel rail. The rails support removable transverse floor bearers which are inserted in place when an upper deck is needed.
The deck itself consists of five plywood panels hinged to each wall along their lower edges and secured flush against the body side. One or more pairs of these sections can be unclipped and laid on the transverse bearers whenever cartons or other light and bulky goods have to be carried above machinery or other hardware on the body floor. Loading is carried out with the aid of a Ratcliff doubletier tail-lift.
