• lveco's Dario Salvati (see below) is convinced that telematics will become one of the most important development areas; Iveco is planning trials from early in 2002. "The latest vehicle electronic management systems make it passible to transmit data automatically from the vehicle to the office, which we believe will be of great benefit to operators." it says.
Remote management of fleets, loads and routes will grow, he predicts, despite the current lack of a telematics standard. However, he is speaking from the Iveco point of view: the agreement currently being developed by Volvo, Scania, MAN and Mercedes-Benz might well become the industry standard.
