• The use of operational research and other modern management techniques is already showing encouraging results in several sectors of British road transport, particularly in planning fleet size. depot location, vehicle replacement and the reduction in the number of vehicles required for specific jobs. This area of new techniques is the subject for one of the papers to be presented at this year's Commercial Motor Fleet Management Conference,
The Conference will be held on September 17 at the London Hilton Hotel. and will feature papers on fleet engineering and urban transport, together with a debate by two transport lawyers on aspects of operating policy—such as whether the own-account operator should enter the hire-and-reward field.
