• A three-axle, step-frame semi-trailer with 8.25-15 tyres equipment and 401t overall length and a tandem-axle coil carrying design have been introduced by J. Booth (Trailers) Ltd. The step-frame model is designed for use on T1R work with, drop sides, tubular superstructure and nyloncovered pvc tilt and, as well as providing a reasonably low platform height at the rear of 3ft. lin., there is an extra 336 Cu. ft. internal capacity as compared with a normal design of the same length with an identical overall height.
Rear-deck length of the step-frame model can be up to 30ft. depending on the type of kingpin fitted and a rear internal height of 9ft. 10in, is provided within an overall height of 13ft. 2in. The main frame is an I8in. deep by 6in. I-beam and the three 7.5-ton capacity axles which carry twin tyres are spaced at 4ft. 4in. centres; the cam actuated brakes are 12.5iri. diameter by 7in. wide in all cases. An unladen weight of about 7 tons is quoted for this model, complete with a special superstructure, 2ft. 6in. high sides and tilt and including lin. hardwood floor. Basic list price is quoted as £2,400.
The tandem-axle coil carrier is for use at 32 tons gross and has Rubery Owen 10-ton axles with 16.5 by 8.25in. cam brakes and 10.00-20 twin tyres. The main frame I-beams measure 18in. by 6in. and the coil well is built to meet a customer's specification. With a length of 33ft. and 23ft. well, basic price is £1,400.
