• A new tipping gear and body are being introduced to the British market by Thomas Thompson and Son Ltd, manufacturer of the equipment in the Republic of Ireland. A spokesman for the company told CM this week that sufficient stocks are now carried to offer a 24-hour replacement service at the company's depot at 18-20 Urswick Road, Hackney, London E9.
During the first 12 months there will be no fitting charge on replacement equipment. Bodies, rams and pumps can be • fitted on new chassis in five days from delivery.
The Thompson tipping gear, which was on show for the first time in Britain at the 1970 Tipping Convention at Buxton, costs between £.163 for a single ram 10-ton lift and £608 for a twin ram 30-ton lift, including power take-off.
The TTS body, which was also on show at Buxton has received type-approval from Vauxhall Motors Ltd and has been submitted to Ford and BLMC. It is already fitted to most British, makes in Ireland.
