the GLC has decided to install coach parking meters for short term parking at three sites within the capital.
The meters are situated at the Victoria Embankment by Charing Cross and Westminster Pier and in Monk Street and each comprises five parking spaces exclusively for coaches.
They operate from 08.30 to 16.30 Monday to Friday and from 08.30 to 13.30 on Satur: days. The charge will be 10p per 15 minutes with a maximum period of two hours.
Designed to take coaches bringing parties for short term visits and boat trips, the meters allow drivers to leave their vehicles.
At present coach drivers have to drop their passengers, often by double parking and causing infringements of traffic regulations and drive round looking for a quiet area to wait before returning to pick up their passengers.
