Car Park Charges
THE NATIONAL Exhibition Centre at Birmingham is looking at the possibility of providing temporary canteen facilities for coach and other drivers until a permanent facility can be built. It is also proposing a E2 parking charge for coaches.
Fund tops £8,000
CONTRIBUTIONS from busmen in Edinburgh and Barnsley, Yorkshire to go towards the Scottish War Blinded this year topped the £8,000 mark. Since 1948, the busmen have donated more than £18,000 to the charity.
Gastonia service
GASTONIA Coaches Ltd of Cranleigh, Surrey, has applied for a stage carriage licence for a service between Dorking bus station, Baker St Station, Victoria and Marble Arch.
Toll increase
THE toll for coaches travelling through the Mersey tunnel will be raised from 10p to 60p on June 1.
Jubilee drive
BRIDLINGTON will be the destination of a large number of interesting passengers and commercial vehicles leaving Hull on June 12 as part of Humbersides' jubilee celebrations.
Organised by the Humberside Transport Centre the East Coast run has attracted entrants from Holland as well as Britain.
DTp driving centre
THE Department of Transport has recently opened a new driving centre at Cardington in Bedfordshire.
Opened by the Duke of Gloucester, it is intended to train DTp's driving examiners and those who conduct public service vehicle driving tests. Its fleet includes a doubledecker bus.
