HANTS and Dorset Motor Services is introducing a Jubilee "Faresaver" bus fare scheme to give passengers half-price travel during off-peak times and at week-ends.
The "Faresaver" will be a E1.80 per month pass sold in company offices on June 1. The pass will be restricted to the districts of Salisbury and Kennet — an area of 600 square metres with a population of 120,000.
Hants and Dorset are to run the scheme for a trial period of six months as a purely commercial venture. Publicity is being given to the scheme with leaflet distribution, press advertising and a publicity bus touring the area distributing leaflets and issuing passes.
Results are to be monitored by the NBC who will extend the scheme to other areas if it is successful.
