• Grand Prix motor racing team Williams is to use a Renault Magnum 520 six-wheel tag-axle drawbar chassis as a team support vehicle. It will run solo, carrying a wide variety of equipment.
The 26-tonne left-hooker has a sleeper cab, Renault's 18speed TBV automated gearbox, a Telma electric retarder and Interlube XGS automatic chassis lubrication gear from Tecalemit Systems.
Power comes from a chargecooled Mack EE9 32-valve 16.4 litre vee-eight which produces 395kW (530hp) at 2,000rpm with 2,298Nm (1,6591bft) of torque at 1,200rpm.
Williams will also run three Magnum 520 tractors to maintain "brisk" journey times between circuits, says Renault, and because it likes their highprofile image.
Williams' Magnum rigid, which was supplied through Renault Trucks Reading, is not unique; leather goods specialist Patricks runs one as a drawbar on Continental work.
