• Renault joins the hatchback van fight with the Clio van. It comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engines and will lug up to 440kg in a load space of 1.06m3. slightly more than the Corsavan. A hard wearing cloth covers the load floor which is equipped with four load-securing points. A half-height steel bulkhead keeps the load in the rear. The load floor measures 1.36m long, with a maximum width of 1.3m, slimming to 1.04m between wheelarches.
Power comes from either a 1.2-litre fuel injection with catalyst or 1.9-litre diesel engine, also used in the Clio car and Extra 775 van. The petrol engine produces 43kW (58hp) at 6,000rpm with maximum torque of 83Nm (641bft) at 3,500rpm. The diesel offers more get up and go with 47kW (63hp) at 4,500rpm and 118Nm (871bft) of torque at 2,750rpm. Like the Corsavan, both models are fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox. Suspension is by front MacPherson struts and rear transverse torsion bars. Diesels get an anti-roll bar front and rear while petrol models are fitted with rear anti-roll bars only.
Clio comes with one trim level and a generous equipment list including; stereo radio/cassette player, rear wash/wipe, internally adjustable headlamps and door mirrors.
All models are covered by a 12-month/unlimited mileage warranty, including a year's free RAC membership. In addition, there's an eight year anticorrosion warranty.
