51 our lorry drivers
sheltering overnight in a North Devon car park to escape blizzards were astonished when they woke to find they had been given parking tickets.
The drivers were sheltering in the Seven Brethren longstay car park at the North Devon Leisure Centre in Barnstaple. They had not seen the prohibited Parking sign which had been blown over and covered in snow Spookily enough, the £30 fixed penalty tickets were issued in the dead of night at 02:35hrs.
An embarrassed council official says, "Our security men saw the lorries and booked them but the tickets will now be waived."
