European Commission proposals to extend the compulsory fitting of speed limiters to smaller commercial vehicles are expected in the next few weeks—some six months later than anticipated (CM 30 March-5 April 2000).
The current threshold for speed limiters is 12 tonnes but vehicles as small as 3.5 tonnes could be limited to 90km/h.
