A PARTNER at agricultural haulier Dennis Clowes and Sons has had his HGV licence suspended for two weeks after he refused to stop at a VOSA checkpoint on the M62. At a public inquiry in Warrington, North Western traffic commissioner (TC) Beverley Bell was told that John Clowes, from the Congleton, Cheshire-based business, ignored instructions from a VOSA officer to pull over and drove through a red light. He later failed to confirm to police that he was the driver of the vehicle. The TC also curtailed the O-licence of Dennis Clowes and Sons from two vehicles to one.
TC Bell says: “I would remind all drivers and operators to be aware of any enforcement vehicles on the roads and to follow [officers’] instructions.” In May this year, the haulage business had its authorisation cut from three vehicles and one trailer to two vehicles for poor vehicle maintenance.
