MI A skip hire operator has been fined £2,000 with £3,300 costs for leaving waste on a farm without a licence.
David Britton, trading as ORB Recycling, was told by the Environment Agency to stop taking waste to the farm at Deighton near York following complaints from a neighbour.
Harrogate magistrates heard that a surveillance operation was set up by the agency. Skips were seen entering the farm and depositing waste which was then being sorted.
Britton was found guilty of depositing waste without a Waste Management Licence but was found not guilty of disposing of the waste at the farm.
The agency has ordered Britton to remove several hundred tonnes of waste.
A spokesman for the agency says the Britton case should serve as a warning to other companies that it will not tolerate such activities.
