• A haulier, bitter with the Government for being "dead against" lorries, has put his 11vehicle company into voluntary liquidation.
Alan Knight, director of refrigerated operator AM Knight, of Liphook, Hampshire, says it is "pointless" carrying on because of "low rates, low margins and increasing diesel prices". The company owes creditors more than £300,000.
Knight blames the Government for his problems, saying Labour is "dead against" opera tors because it is taxing lorries off the road and overseeing a noticeable dip in economic activity.
Knight and his family are on the list of creditors as being owed more than £56,000 by the business, including a £21,494 contribution from his father's livestock haulage company, M&R Knight Transport.
Factoring company Barclays Commercial Services is owed more than £89,000.
Knight now plans to operate as an owner driver.
