LATEST to switch over to the Egft-high container are Integrated Container Services Inc., the international container leasers. In future, all ICS containers (and most of them built in this country are by Cravens Homolloy) will have an Bft (wide) x 8ft 6in. cross-section which, according to Mr. James Thrasher, ICS's vice-president in .Europe, makes an immense amount of difference to capacity, particularly in the 20ft module.
Container Marine Lines were one of the first to add the extra half !-cot, followed by Cunard Line, although Inter--.ational Ferry Freight have always maintained that this height should have been adopted by the ISO. There is, of course, only one snag about it-British Railways have difficulties in carrying such containers, except on schedule°
liner services. They will accept them, of course —but take them on their road vehicles?
