A conwex industrial safety mirror of 34in. diameter from Volumatic Co. extends its existing range of wide-angle safety mirrors.
The range now includes mirrors of 16in.. 24in. and 34in. diameter which are designed to reduce accident hazards caused by concealed corners or blind spots in loading areas in factory roads, loading bays, warehouses, docks, farms, building sites and car parks.
The company has also introduced a number of general design improvements. These include an increase in the size of the universal ball-joint on which the mirror is pivoted to give greater resistance to vibration: the use of larger locking screws to keep the mirror more firmly in place on its swivel joint once the required angle of vision has been chosen: the application of more extensive anti-corrosive protection.
Another improvement is a new type of anchor to secure the mirror mounting bracket more firmly to any type of fixing surface without special fixing techniques.
The mirrors can be suspended from ceilings or girders, or extended from walls on extension arms, which are available in lengths of 10in. and 27in.
The principle behind the design of the Volumatic safety mirror system is to give the maximum breadth of vision from the smallest possible unit. For example, the new 34in. mirror gives a 45deg. angle of vision at a distance of 40ft and a 52 deg. angle of vision at 15ft.
