ZF GEARS (Great Britain) Ltd is supplying the only manual transmission option for Leyland's new Tiger coach (see page 42).
According to ZF, the demand for the ZF S6-80 six-speed synchromesh box on the Leyland Leopard will be repeated on Tiger. The S6-80 has, says ZF, proved popular with operators and drivers as it combines simple and safe gearchanges with economy and, with the specially ground gears, low noise levels.
Another option on the Tiger is ZF's ball and nut type 8043 steering unit. This is the first time that ZF power-steering has been selected as an original equipment option on a coach from a British manufacturer, though they have been in use for many years by Continental coachbuild.ers.
PLANS by the Kowloon Motor Bus Company to increase its bus fares by 100 per cent have caused storms of protest in Hong Kong.
