• Parcels firm ANC is renewing its fleet of 136 trailers with custom-built models which provide 12.5% additional capacity and a fuel saving of lmpg.
The design is the result of a collaboration between ANC and Don-Bur of Longton, Stoke-onTrent, and has been christened MasterMover.
ANC was involved in the design of the trailers which are on contract hire from Transamerica in a deal worth .C28m a year. The extra capacity of the 245-tonner GRP boxes has been achieved by increasing the width of the 13.6m trailer.
The benefit to ANC is that it can now accommodate four extra cages in each trailer by loading them two abreast. The fuel saving has been achieved by the trailer's improved aerodynamic design.
It is planned that all the trailers will have been replaced by the end of this year.
