resident of the Board of Trade, MP Michael Heseltine, last week opened the first service area on the M40, Granada's Cherwell Valley site.
The motorway was previously the UK's longest stretch without a service area. Research by Granada points to one third of-motorists-driving for more than the police guideline of two hours without a break and one in 10 has nodded off at
the wheel. It is not known whether Hezza sampled the all-day breakfast on his visit or found such food less than fit for a "president". Still, as one of the most active after-dinner speakers on the Tory party's rubber chicken circuit the MP has probably encountered much grimmer food in his time.
