hobby,. two Lewes farmers have
built a couple of serviceable tractors from used parts of lorries and cars. One incorporates an Austin 7 h.p. engine and the other an Austin 12 h.p. power unit. The" manufacturers " are Messrs. L. P. Greenwood and R. A. Potter, of Swanborough Farm.
The smaller machine has been in use for over two years and has given satisfactory service. The chassis frame consists of channel-steel members. The worm-driven rear axle is a component of a Rover car.
The tractor draws a 15-cwt. trailer and is used in conjunction with a hoe and a Bamford side rake.
The larger tractor has two gearboxes affording a total of 12 forward speeds, and is stated to be capable of 45-50
1320 m.p.h. Fordson axles are employed, that at the rear being a 2-ton com
ponent. The front wheels are also Fordson equipment, whilst the., rear wheels are of Dennis pattern. Internalexpanding brakes are fitted. Both tractors are equipped with pneumatic tyres.
