• Police are warning hauliers about a gang of armed and violent hijackers who stripped a lorry of its load of wines and spirits in Dartford, Kent on 28 November.
The truck was approaching the roundabout at University Way at 18:00hrs when a red saloon car braked in front of it. forcing it to a standstill.
A short 30-year-old white male wearing a black puffa jacket leapt out and jumped into the truck's passenger side, pro
ducing what North Kent police believe was a small handgun. The driver followed instructions and drove on to the A13.
Eventually the truck was stopped and stripped: it was found abandoned in Chigwell, Essex. The unnamed driver was taken by car to Oxfordshire where he was beaten up.
"Hauliers must be aware of this problem in the run up to Christmas—particularly those carrying high-value goods," say the police.
