Neil Sharpies, of Holbrook, had always wanted to run his own haulage company, and last summer he worked with Nelson Distribution of Belper following a request from the Prince's Trust. Simon Nelson (pictured), managing director of the firm, says: "He was here for three or four weeks and made a big impression on us. If he had been well, we would have offered him a job."
The firm provided a truck for Neil's funeral and afterwards decided to name its next new truck, a Mercedes-Benz Actros, in his memory.
