IA. BULLION van based on a Morris
LD2 chassis has been purchased by the National Provincial Bank. Wadham Bros., Ltd., Waterlooville, built the body and supplied the vehicle in conjunction with the Colmore Depot, Birmingham.
The composite body has a hardwood frame with 18-gauge mild-steel exterior panelling and polished plywood interior panels. The main compartment has scats for three attendants, with accommodation for two more beside the driver. There is a sliding door immediately behind the driver to give access to the bullion compartment.
Three-way loading is provided by a sliding door on each side at the front and double hinged doors at the rear. A double folding step is fitted at the rear and there is a secondary steel-mesh door inside each outer door. The two. windows on each side of the body have safety grilles. Special locks are provided.
The provision of side windows in a bullion van does not make the vehicle liable to the full rate of purchase tax.
