Difficulties over maintenance led to the licence held by Leigh, Lancashire-based Atkinson Brothers being curtailed from two vehicles to one. The firm had been called before North Western IC Beverley Bell.
FORMAL UMW
Newtown, Powys-based Philip and Shirley Owen were given a formal warning about keeping their vehicle in a roadworthy condition when they appeared before Welsh TC David Dixon.
UNFAIR DISMISSAL
Bangor-based Jones & Edwards has been ordered to pay driver James Rowlands £4,137 compensation for unfair dismissal. Rowlands told an employment tribunal that he had been sacked by Jones & Edwards without being given any reason.
NO ACTION
Though taking no action against the licence held by Annan haulier James Morrison, Scottish TC Michael Betts warned him he must ensure the rules on drivers' hours and tachographs are observed and proper records kept.
APPEAL PLAN
David Eccles and John Heads, trading as Euro Haul, of Middlesbrough, are appealing against the revocation of their licence for 67 vehicles and 20 trailers. TO Beverley Bell, revoked the licence after the firm failed to tax vehicles as a "protest" against VED rates.
