Like the LF45, power comes from the Cummins ISBe unit though Daf insists on calling it a Paccar engine. In the LF55 there's only one --180hp -rating of the little 4,5-litre four-cylinder and three versions220hp, 250hp and 290hp of the larger 6.7-litre, six-cylinder motor.
The LF55 is aimed at the payload-conscious sector of
the distribution market with a 13-tonne body-plus-payload for the 6x2 21-tonne rigid claimed by Daf.
The stylish cab, shared with the LF45 and, beneath the skin, with the Renault Midlum, lacks some of the creature comforts that are offered by other distribution trucks on the market, not least by Daf itself (see CF65/75, left), and the LF seems best suited to local operations.
