1,995kg Load volume: 2.2m3 MODEL TESTED/PUBLISHED: 1.3 16v 8 December 2005
With the Suzuki Carry discontinued, the Extol has the microvan category to itself, but you'd need a good excuse to call on this little van as opposed to looking towards larger, more practical competition.
Granted, it does provide surprising load ability with a volume of 2.2m, and a payload of 615kg, making it stand out when compared to car-derived hatchbacks such as the Vauxhall Corsa.
But despite its city friendly turning circle it's a nit of a handful on the open road. Its susceptible to cross-winds and needs nursing round corners. However, its petrol 1.3-litre 16v unit spins freely, supplying enough urge in town while the incisive steering allows quick manoeuvres.
Inside there's a tight driving position and few comforts, though forward visibility is good. However, the biggest selling point will probably be the price which is below £7,000.
