Mr. Hore-Belisha is no longer Minister of Transport, his active career in that office having won him promotion to Secretary of State for War. The reshuffle of offices, consequent upon the retirement of Mr. Baldwin, has also brought about the promotion of Dr. E. Leslie Burgin, Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, to Minister of Transport: Dr. Burgin, who was loudly cheered when he answered his first question in his new capacity in the House of Commons on Monday, is a man of great administrative ability and legal learning, and is held in high esteem at Westminster. He may prove to be a worthy successor to Mr. Hore-Belisha, who, like himself, came into the National Government as a LiberalNational member.
