THE name All-Rounder has been given to the latest design of vehicle-loading equipment to be developed by H. C. Pope Ltd., Weedon Road Industrial Estate, Northampton. The unit marks a considerable advance in transport handling equipment as it provides the usefulness of a tailboard loader along the full length of one side or both sides of a vehicle.
Fo mount the All-Rounder, a body structure is required with runners at the top and a guide at the bottom on to which a traversing lifting unit fits. This allows loads to be lifted at any convenient position along the body side and when not in use the platform folds up flat, against the body side. Operation is by a hydraulic system powered by an electric motor and the unit has a capacity of 10 cwt.
Cost of the equipment depends on the exact specification but, as an example, H. C. Pope says that one traversing lift with a complete body supporting structure 20 ft. long by 7 ft. 9 in. wide would cost about £600. With two traversing lifts and a body structure of the same site the price would he in the region of £900.
