• Brewliners, the distribution arm of brewer Courage, has bought 58 Scania P113MA4x2R 320 3.8m-wheelbase tractive unit. It is in the process of converting 247 of its 484-strong tandem-axle trailer fleet to triaxle configuration. As part of the move the company has adopted dimensional standards to suit operation at 40 tonnes. Over the next five years the Scanias will cover about 1,000,000km (620,000 miles) double shifting on bulk deliveries between production and group distribution centres.
All the sleeper-cab units include optional equipment such as rear axle air suspension, Scania alloy wheels, spotlights, illuminated headboard, radiocassettes and reversing alarm.
The standard P cab includes an air-sprung driving seat, electric windows and heated mirrors. Scania's charge cooled 11litre engine, developing 235kW (320hp), drives through a 10speed synchromesh rangechange box.
Brewliners specified Scanias following comparative trials and because of the low whole-life cost forecast. All the units will operate on a full Scania repair and maintenance scheme.
