• Tyrewatch can constantly monitor the pressures of up to 18 tyres on a vehicle. A sensor screwed on to each tyre's valve transmits a signal to the cab if the pressure falls more than 10% below the correct setting.
Operators can install the system themselves and transfer it when a vehicle is replaced, says CPK Auto Products which markets the equipment. Each sensor's trigger point is pre-set at the factory and new ones are required if the tyre pressures change.
By using a single radio frequency and short range transmitters a system installed in a tractive unit will work with any suitably equipped trailer, so interchangeability is maintained, says CPK.
A complete system for a twoaxle tractive unit with a tnaxle trailer costs 2285 (ex VAT) and replacement sensors each cost 213.13 (ex VAT).
