pecialist transport publisher Cortney Publications is reprinting Stories of Round Timber Haulage by Bedfordshire writer Maurice Sanders. Copies will be available later this month at Z12.95.
The popular book includes photographs of the most unusual vehicles used in the timber trade since the First World War as well as anecdotes of the larger-than-life characters who drove them.
The book was first published in 1984, since then Sanders has written Men, Mud and Machines, (priced Z12.95), and Wood, Wurlitzer and Wesley, (priced Z13.95) which are both still available.
The Hawk has two copies of Round Timber to give away to the first two readers who can tell him what Wurlitzer was famous for making. Answers on a postcard by Friday, 19 June.
