NUMBERS of passengers in Greater Glasgow PTE were three per cent higher in the period 1975 to 1976 than the previous year.
This figure is revealed in the third annual report of the PTE, published last week. This is in spite of some mileage and service reductions over the period.
Total revenue for the period May 1975 to March 1976 amounted to £24.7 million, with a total operating expenditure slightly less than £24.4 million. Bus fares rose by 21 per cent in 1975.
Staff shortages were reduced during the year from 401 bus drivers short at the beginning of the period to 275 short in September.
There was a marginal improvement in the numbers of assaults on staff in the period, but vandalism continued at a high level.
