THE FREIGHT Transport Association has threatened to sue the European Commission for the costs incurred by the delayed launch of digital tachographs if it fails to outline a new timetable for their introduction. The FTA's lawyer.Mark Clough QC, has written to EU Transport Commissioner Loyola de Palacio warning that she has a legal obligation to provide operators with a new schedule for the equipment's introduction (CM 19 February). ETA chief executive Richard Turner says that is has been obvious for months that the initial timetable has slipped away.
