• A salary of more than £100,000 is being offered to oversee the Government's road building programme as chief executive of the New Highways Agency will be launched next April (see Comment, page 14).
• The Severn Bridge's operator has agreed to discuss giving hauliers bigger discounts and the freedom to share an electronic tag between more than one truck, after pressure from two transport trade associations.
• The Association of British Insurers next week launches a series of computer registers aimed at combating bogus and inflated insurance claims, which cost about £400m a year.
