POLICE ARE appealing for truck drivers to report any sightings of a red recovery truck that has been responsible for illegally picking up vehicles in Hertfordshire.
There have been three incidents over the last week where the truck has been involved in removing older-style cars that look as though they might have been abandoned, are covered by off-road notifica tions or are simply not taxed.
The owners have contacted the police to report that their vehicles have been stolen.
No paperwork was left behind and local recovery operators have no record of these incidents.
DC Jon Fisher Eames says: "There have been several other incidents of old vehicles being stolen from the StAlbans,Welwyn, Hatfield and Borehamwood areas, but there were no witnesses who saw the removal so we can't say for sure whether this truck was involved.
"We are looking to identify the owners of this vehicle and would ask you to contact us if you have any information at all about it."
