ASPECIAL light-alloy container has been designed and built for the Westland Aircraft Co., Ltd., by Tiverton Coachbuilders, Ltd., 'Blundells Road, Tiverton, Devon. It is to be used to carry spare parts on a Commer platform lorry.
It has a Wcathershields sliding roof and a detachable rear end to allow heavy equipment, such as aircraft engines, to be loaded.
Side members are of heavy-duty top-hat section, and the main interior buffer rail is of corrugated planking. It is at waist height.
The intermediate slide rails are tubular, and the roof is formed of Tsections and plate. A heavy-duty flush floor is made up of interlocking planks laid longitudinally.
D12 The rear doors and tailboard are double-skinned, and at the front near side there is a wooden roller shutter to give access to the interior.
There are heavy-duty lifting shackles on both sides of the container, and four drain tubes in the roof framework.
