The Road Haulage Association has set up a Transport Act working party to help members deal with the new situation which will arise if the Transport Bill now before Parliament becomes law.
One of the aims is to advise members on their rights and obligations as the new legislation takes effect. Another is to secure by all legitimate means that as far as possible members can take advantage of those provisions that may be beneficial to them and to mitigate the effect of detrimental provisions.
The working party will collaborate with RHA committees and operate under the general direction of the executive board. Members who have so agreed to serve are Mr. J. P. Wells (an RHA vice-chairman); Mr. R. S. Bowles and Mr. J. M. Silbermann (education and training committee); Mr. T. J. E. Price (labour relations committee): Mr. E. R. Taylor (licensing committee): Mr. G. E. Telfer (highways and traffic committee); Mr. G. A. H. Watts (technical committee), and Mr. R. W. Tree (commercial committee). Another member is to be appointed from the public relations committee.
