A master electronic alarm produced by the Equipment and Engineering Co, Ltd. gives warning of a number of vehicle faults that may develop while it is running. These include low engine oil-pressure, high watertemperature, low air-pressure faults in "stop" or rear lights, low water-level in radiator, faulty alternator charging and so on.
A version of the system is also available that gives a warning when the oil reservoirs in an automatic chassis lubrication system require replenishing.
An audible warning takes the form of a high-pitched pulsating sound that continues for 20/30sec and is readily audible above the engine noise. At the same time a panel light, inscribed with the fault that has developed is switched on and stays on until the fault has been put right. It is stated that it is not possible for the driver to cancel the warning light. The alarm box, on which the various inscribed light panels are mounted, is fitted in the driver's cab out of his range of vision, so that his attention will not be diverted from the road.
