Equity or venture capital is likely to entail some loss of control of the business, because investors typically want a chunk of the company upfront in return for their money and a clear exit strategy. However, you may benefit from their business expertise, should they wish to help manage the future of the firm.
Stobart is the most famous example of a company that has achieved a stock-exchange listing and massive capital investment by becoming part of a larger group. Westbury, its purchaser, was already a listed company and the newly-formed icint organisation started trading on the Stock Exchange in September.
