THE ONCE dominant name of Perkins engines has taken a further setback with the news that one of its highest-profile customers, JCB, is to launch a brand new engine of its own.
The Uttoxeter construction equipment maker will use the British designed and built four and six-cylinder units in its medium-sized vehicles, with production beginning at the former JCB Landpower factory at Cheadle, Staffs, from 2005.
