• Following the recent grant by the Yorkshire LA of the Contract A-to-B licence switch relating to 75 tippers operated by R. Hanson and Sons Ltd., Wakefield (CM March 8), it is understood that the 25 objectors have given instructions for an appeal to be lodged.
Short-term B licences had been granted to Hanson for nine months prior to the inquiry when it had lost a £100,000 contract with the National Coal Board but, having acquired Sam Longson Ltd., had undertaken the haulage of £101,000 worth of new rowdstone traffic for the ICI Ltd. (Mond Div.).
Comment was made at the inquiry that no oral evidence had been forthcoming from NCB, one of the four customers named in the licence conditions.
