• A small refrigerated body suitable for the Bedford Rascal and Suzuki Super Carry micro pick-up is now being offered by I). A. Werber of Harrow, Middlesex.
The Polar Module fridge box has an all-glass-reinforced plastic moulded shell, with a 76mm urethane foam insulating core covered by a one-piece inner lining.
The single rear door has stainless-steel hinges, a compression lock, and two-lip thermal gaskets.
Refrigeration is by two banks of eutectic tubes fixed along the interior walls, cooled by a mains-driven condensor mounted on the forward exterior bulkhead.
Once the eutectic solution inside the tubes is frozen, a controlled sub-ambient temperature is maintained by natural convection for up to 15 hours, depending on the frequency of rear door opening.
The Rascal/Super Carry Polar Van can carry up to 500kg — or 2.94m3 — of frozen produce and is available in three versions providing interior temperature ranges of down to minus 28 degrees celsius.
Werber will supply a complete vehicle, including the price of the pick-up, for between £5,700 and £6,800, depending on the final specification.
