A Gwent ownerdriver has had his licence revoked and has been disqualified from holding an 0licence for two months after a series of problems with vehicle maintenance and convictions.
Jonathan West, trading as JD West Transport of Caerwent, appeared before the Welsh TC David Dixon at a Cardiff disciplinary inquiry.
The TC heard of a number of unsatisfactory fleet checks by the Vehicle Inspectorate, and that West had been issued with a serious warning at a public inquiry nearly three years ago. He had also failed to notify the Traffic Area Office of changes in his home address, and of operating centre.
West also faced an allegation that he had used a vehicle last November which had been off the road for six months and which had been condemned by a maintenani contractor as unsafe.
Conceding that he. wot plead guilty in a pending preset tion over rest periods, West sE he had had difficulty parking.
West's transport managE Pauline Lavery, said that the fz ure to notify a change of openE ing centre had been caused I confusion. The TC decided th West's failures were due "incompetence rather thi deliberate wrong doing."
