Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Steve Banner's feature on 44 tonnes (CM 29 Mar-4 April) asks "Bigger and Better?" From Steve's evidence, and his list of pros and cons, few readers could argue that the answer to the question must be yes".

The pros can be summarised as the ability to move more goods on fewer vehicles at lower costs. And the cons? Well, if you don't need 44 tonnes you won't be running them. Not really a con. The Freight Transport Association campaigned for over 20 years for the introduction of 44 tonnes—their sanction and use is nothing but good news.
