MAN WILL buy cabs from the UK's Dennis Eagle for a low-entry refuse truck to be launched soon.
MAN will enter this niche sector next year with an all-new product for the UK and Europe. It will be badged as MAN and equipped with the new MAN D20 engine and Tipmatic automated manual transmission.
A prototype of the new truck will be displayed at the Hanover truck show in September.
The cab will be based on the Dennis Eagle Elite II frame and will be built at Dennis's Blackpool factory, trimming and tailoring it for link-up with the MAN chassis before shipping to the Vienna assembly plant. According to MAN sales and marketing boss Fred van Putten, the two companies have been in negotiations for the past 18 months.
