Stobart loses out from Nestle
NESTl I S reorganisation of its logistics operation has led to Eddie Stobart losing 20% of work on the Nestle Purina contract.
Nestlé put the transport contract for its pet food arm, Purina, out for tender earlier this year; it was previously handled solely by Eddie Stobart from Hams Hall. West Midlands.The move to using more than one contractor will bring the subsidiary in line with other Nestle divisions. A spokeswoman says: "Nestlé has recently reorganised its logistics operations, with Nestle UK Logistics becoming responsible for the management and purchasing of all Nestle's transport operations in the UK, including the Purina contract."
A Stobart spokesman says: "We have managed to retain 80% of the contract, and we have had some employees move to Nestk.' adds:" Eddie Stobart will continue to be a part of the new operating model. The company is a key partner to Nestle UK Logistics, operating the Barden Distribution Centre, and providing a range of transport solutions across the total Nestle portfolio."
As CM went to press, Nestle was unable to say who had won the other 20% of the work.
